Woman looking to the side

Privacy & Confidentiality

Your privacy matters. In this practice, confidentiality and respect are at the heart of everything we do. Gynaecological health often involves sensitive topics, and you deserve to feel safe, heard, and supported.

Patient Confidentiality

All medical information you share with us — whether during consultations, procedures, or via forms and messages — is kept strictly confidential. Your records are stored securely, and only authorised staff involved in your care can access them. We comply with all relevant New Zealand privacy laws and Health Information Privacy Code (2020) standards.

No information will be shared with anyone (other than your GP) without your explicit consent, except in situations where disclosure is required by law or necessary for further treatment or to prevent serious harm.

Talking About Sensitive Topics

Many people find it difficult to talk about:

  • Pain with sex or orgasm
  • Bladder or bowel leakage
  • Changes in libido or sexual function
  • Anxiety, low mood, or body image concerns
  • Past trauma or negative experiences with healthcare

These issues are common and often treatable. This is a space where you can talk openly without fear of embarrassment or judgement. You are encouraged to bring up anything that’s affecting your wellbeing, even if it doesn’t feel “medical enough” or if you haven’t shared it with anyone else.

You’re in control of what you choose to discuss and how it’s addressed. You can also request a support person be present, or to pause or stop any examination or conversation at any time.

Respect for Gender, Culture, and Identity

We strive to create an inclusive environment for everyone, regardless of gender identity, cultural background, sexual orientation, or life experience. If you have particular needs or preferences around care (such as who is present, how you’re examined, or what language is used), you are encouraged to let us know.

Information You Provide Online or via Forms

Any information you submit through our website — whether it’s contact details, health history, or appointment requests — is treated with the same high level of confidentiality as in-person consultations.

We use secure systems to manage your data, and we do not share your information with third parties for marketing or analytics purposes. If you prefer not to provide personal details online, you’re welcome to call or email us directly.
