About Me
Hi, I’m Dr Sam Holford — a specialist gynaecologist based in Auckland.
I started this practice because I wanted to offer a kind, evidence-based, and human approach to gynaecology. Whether you’re dealing with pain, uncomfortable periods, infertility, or anything in between, I want you to feel heard, respected, and empowered to make decisions that are right for you.
I work one-on-one with every patient — no conveyor belt, no rushing. Just a genuine conversation about what’s going on and how we can make things better.
My Background
I’ve been practising medicine for over a decade, and have been working as a consultant across Auckland City Hospital and Middlemore Hospital since 2023. I’ve run hundreds of surgical lists and outpatient clinics, and I regularly teach and supervise registrars and gynaecologists in advanced laparoscopic surgery.
I have a particular interest in:
- Endometriosis diagnosis and management
 - Menstrual disorders
 - Endometriosis ultrasound
 - Minimally invasive gynaecological surgery

How I Work
I’ll always take the time to explain things in plain language, give you options (including non-surgical), and help you feel confident about your next step — whether that’s more tests, a treatment plan, or just reassurance that everything’s okay.
You’re the expert in your body. My job is to offer medical expertise, support your decisions, and help you get back to feeling like yourself again.

Outside the Clinic
My claim to fame is being married to the one and only Evie Kemp. Not only is she my soul mate and best friend, Evie has enriched my life and challenged me to be the compassionate and open-minded person I am today.
In my free time, I hang out with my dogs and cats, bake, DIY, explore art and new tattoos, and binge watch TV.
I'm a proud Drive to Survive era F1 fan, listen to podcasts, and try to ride my bike when it's sunny.
Software development has been a long term hobby, which has grown into operatingsystems.nz
Unlike most doctors, I don't do gym or write poetry 🤣
If you’re thinking about booking an appointment but not quite sure, feel free to get in touch. You won’t get a call centre — just me or my lovely assistant, happy to help.
